Numerical simulations of cone penetration in cemented sandstone

چکیده

In this study, three-dimensional simulations of cone penetration tests (CPT) in cemented sandstone have been investigated using the Discrete Element Method (DEM). We generated realistic grain size distribution numerical Ustyurt-Buzachi Sedimentary Basin samples. Numbers CPT at different bond strength values were performed with penetrometer vertically moved down a constant rate. The results real-world particle show that resistance and side friction increase increasing depths; decrease, while ratio increases. result was found to be good agreement Soil Behaviour Type (SBT) classification system from data.

Numerical Simulations of Penetration and Overshoot in the Sun

We present numerical simulations of convective overshoot in a twodimensional model of the solar equatorial plane. The simulated domain extends from 0.001 R⊙ to 0.93 R⊙, spanning both convective and radiative regions. We show that convective penetration leads to a slightly extended, mildly subadiabatic temperature gradient beneath the convection zone below which there is a rapid transition to a ...

NUMERICAL SIMULATIONS OF THE PHASE TRANSITIONS IN CLUSTERS

We have studied the phase transitions in atomic clusters by molecular dynamics simulation, assuming Lennard-Jones interatomic pair potential. Calculations are performed by DAP parallel computer. The results are analyzed by simulating their orientational distribution plots (dot-plot), and neutron diffraction patterns. It is shown that all the main features of the bulk phase transitions are e...

Numerical modeling of the carbonate and the sandstone formations

It is of interest in various scientific and industrial contexts to make a reliable estimation of the transport properties of porous media via more accessible probes such as NMR that yield information on static pore geometry and porosity. When the pore geometry is simple, there are empirical recipes that have long proven reliable in bridging the gap. For heterogeneous systems, such recipes fail ...
